First Post, already hungry

Hello food fans and blog fans! Welcome to my blog. Of course, I realize that nobody is reading, so I'm pretty much talking to myself. But I'll introduce myself anyway.

I used to be a skinny high school kid who didn't care much for food. Sure, I had some favorites. What kid doesn't? But that thing in your stomach that tells your brain when you're full? It worked back then.

Now I'm a bit chubbier and a bit older (34), but man I love me some food!

I have always enjoyed cooking. Growing up, my sister and I used to bake cookies, make little english muffin pizzas, and, well... bacon. We used to microwave bacon in between paper towels to soak up the fat. But after finishing the bacon, we wanted more. Of course, if Mom and Dad got home and found that we ate all the bacon, they would probably be mad. Partly because bacon's expensive, partly because, "YOU ATE ALL THE BACON?!!!"

So, we would suck on the bacon fat soaked paper towels.

We also used to microwave cheese. The American singles kind of cheese. We would put it on a ceramic plate, and microwave for like two minutes. One slice of cheese. We would watch with our faces way too close to one of those early 80s type of microwave with wood panelling on the side, probably emitting all kinds of radioactive junk on us. We would watch the cheese melt and bubble up. After it was finished we would wait about two minutes for it to cool a little bit and harden. I'm sure mom would have loved seeing us use her silverware to scrape hardened cheese off of her plates.

My tastes have grown. A bit. I got married in May, and my wife, Angelica, and I spent two weeks in Italy and Greece pretty much just eating non-stop. Somehow, she's skinny. But we completely fell in love with the food. We have spent the better part of the last three months just trying to replicate some of that yummy goodness.

In my quest, this blog will document our eating. And our cooking. And our favorite moments on Food TV.
